Spanish Class

Diman Regional’s Spanish Curriculum

Introduction to Spanish
This course teaches common greetings, numbers to 100, basic math, Spanish alphabet, days of the week, months, seasons, dates, weather, time, colors, and masculine/feminine/singular/plural basics.

Spanish 1
Spanish 1 is for the student who has a strong grasp of the material taught in our intro course.

We begin with ordinal and higher numbers, moving on to possessive adjectives, pronouns, "sentence starters," the conjugation of "ser," "estar," "tener," and how to conjugate present tense regular -ar, -er, & -ir verbs. Students are expected to read; translate, understand questions, and communicate in Spanish both verbally and in the written language, putting full (basic) sentences together. Students will cover at least the first three chapters of our text, possibly four, learning vocabulary about yourself and others, family, school, and foods.

Spanish 2 (when offered)
This course is for those who have completed all materials in our Intro and Spanish 1 courses (here at Diman or in other schools). Students must have a good command of Spanish comprehension and writing ability in order to take this course.

The goal for Spanish 2 will be to complete most, if not all of the text. "Vocabulary will include sports, health and feelings, clothing, parts of the body. Grammar will Include the present tense of all regular -ar, -er, & - ir verbs, differences between "saber" and "conocer," negative expressions, and more.
